We are an art and design atelier focused on creating hand-produced, sustainable textile pieces. Established in Brooklyn in 1998 (first at NYdesignroom), we started small and chose to stay small to best offer high quality and dedicated craftmanship to our clients.
We arrive to our current practice from a multi-disciplinary background of architectural design, fine arts and old-world classic tailoring. Our own method of up-cycling and re-using was created while experiencing the materials and planning for economy of structural seams.
We design and make for the human expanded environment: cutting from locally-sourced vintage cashmere sweaters we design and make originals under the trash-à-porter label: agua cashmere for babies, kids clothing, grown-up clothes and accessories and home-wares, all lines contribute towards the same lifestyle proposal.
Our work history informs with a series of additions to the same lifestyle collection, honestly-made in-house and always designed with the same root philosophy of "re-use and save" and "economy in production".
One-of-a-kind has been our trade-mark and motto for many years, naturally devising each one of our creations as an original, in our atelier only one piece is made at the time.
We design, work and sell our creations at our Grand St., Williamsburg-Brooklyn atelier and gallery, often a meeting point of kind-minds. We also house a teahouse and host regular tea meditation sessions.
Everybody that worked in our atelier has left a mark , added a detail or had a solution to a design quest, and we celebrate that.
Pushing for chic.
Experimental is final.
We love trash.
